The exponential increase in traffic generated by mobile phone users requires dense deployments of high-cost radio stations. On the other hand, traffic suffers strong geographic and temporal variations, which require dynamic networks. New challenges arise for future networks, solutions that are scalable, dynamic and efficient. The networks of the future will be efficient and heterogeneous, sharing their resources among various operators. Its components will be software-based, using virtualization and the cloud paradigm to use resources in a flexible way. This will enable minimization of costs, and faster deployment and upgrade of networks.
